Philanthropy

Cheering at a Gopher Sports event is not the only way to show your maroon and gold spirit! Each year, homecoming offers philanthropic initiatives that highlight the civic pride and generosity of the University community. This year’s initiatives include:

15th Ave SE Low-Level Lighting Change Drive

For the past year and a half, students living in the Marcy-Holmes and Southeast Como neighborhoods have been working with neighborhood groups to have pedestrian low-level lighting installed on 15th Ave SE from 5th St SE to Como Ave. This section of road is traveled by thousands of students, faculty and residents each day. Neighborhood groups as well as the Panhellenic Council and MSA have been petitioning to initiate the project for the past year and a half as an initiative to increase the safety of students and residents. The cost of the lighting project has mainly fallen on individual property owners along the road, even though all users will benefit from the installation of the lights. This fundraiser, facilitated by the Homecoming Executive Committee and the Student and Community Relations department, provides an opportunity for students to help offset the cost of the project and show their appreciation for our local university community!

Tuesday, September 20th from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm.
15th Ave SE Low-Level Lighting Change Drive Collection Event
Parking Lot for Bierman Field Athletic Building (corner of 15th and 5th Street)
