Second Harvest Food Bank

Each year, Spring Jam chooses a charitable organization to support during the week. This year, Spring Jam will collect food at various events for the Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater Minneapolis. Second Harvest's mission is "to make a difference in our community by acquiring food and personal care products and redistributing these products.” Last year, Spring Jam collected more than 8,000 pounds of food for area food shelves. Show your support for the food drive by contributing canned goods and personal care items! Items will be collected from all Residence Halls and Greek Houses on Friday, April 26 from 11am-3pm, and at other Spring Jam events throughout the week.

Tom Burnett Jr. Memorial Fund

Proceeds from this year’s Spring Jam will also benefit the Tom Burnett Jr. Memorial Fund, which honors University alum Tom Burnett. As a passenger on hijacked United Flight 93, Burnett is believed to have helped thwart the hijacker’s plan on Sept. 11 (read more at msnbc.com). The memorial fund will be used to benefit University of Minnesota students and promote the type of character and leadership exemplified by Burnett.
