Committee Descriptions
Campus-Wide Activities
The University of Minnesota-Twin Cities offers two unique campus-wide celebrations each academic year. As part of the Minnesota Programs & Activities Council, Homecoming and Spring Jam are both annual celebrations that offer a huge spectrum of fun events. Please note, information and applications for Campus-Wide Activities Committee chairs and members are available on the Campus-Wide Activities page.
College Bowl
Put your knowledge to the test in College Bowl, the "varsity sport of the mind". College Bowl participants compete and host campus-wide, local, regional and national tournaments.
Films
Wheter your a fan of cult classics or recent box office hits, the Films Committee is the place for you! Students select weekly films to be shown at Coffman's Theater, St. Paul Student Center's Theatre and the West Bank Auditorium.
Forum
The Forum Committee plans and implements workshops, activities and programs that enrich cultural and social experiences on campus. Previous events include: Step Afrika, Minnecanos, Finals Week Massages and Stress Management Workshops.
Major Events
Would you like to select artists, coordinate production and manage campus-wide events? Major Events Committee plans, promotes, and publicizes several prominent events, including: Flogging Molly, Jason Mraz, The Roots, SNL's Darrell Hammond and Jimmy Fallon comedy performances.
Mini-Courses
The Mini-Courses Committee offers a wide variety of non-credit, affordable workshops in a wide spectrum of areas including: belly dancing, photography, yoga, journal making, dance, theater appreciation and tarot card reading.
Recreation
Get your game on with the Recreation Committee! Students plan and implement recreation opportunities both on and off-campus. Previous activities include: ice skating, tie-dying, roller blading, horseback riding, snowboarding and skiing.
St. Paul Committee
The St. Paul Committee's charge is to plan and implement a variety of activities and programs for users of the St. Paul Campus.
Performing Arts
From theater and dance, to comedians and hypnotists, the Performing Arts Committee provides some of the most entertaining events on campus. Through utlizing local, regional and national talents, Performing Arts events have included: "Real World Revealed", Mission IMPROVable, Local Talent Showcases, hynotists and the noon concert series.
Visual Arts Committee
Visualize, Conceptualize, Realize! The Visual Arts Committee plans art festivals and curates, designs, and installs student and professional art exhibitions in the Larson Art Gallery and in the Coffman Art Gallery.
Whole Music Club
For the past 30 years, the Whole Music Club has brought cutting-edge music to the University of Minnesota. Students assist with all aspects of bringing local and national bands to campus. Previous bands to perform at the Whole include: Heiruspecs, Mark Mallman, the Frogs, the Books, Pretty Girls Make Graves, and a Battle of the Bands featuring performances by 13 local bands.
