Films Committee
You're in college. You're broke. Everyone's raving about the newest movies, but you can't afford to go out to the theatres every weekend. The MPAC Films committee brings recently released blockbuster films movies like "Batman Begins", "Sin City", "Madagascar" and "War of the Worlds" plus cult classics for little to no expense every weekend throughout fall and spring semester. Live in St. Paul? We show films at the St. Paul Student Center every Tuesday and Wednesday. Love Coffman Union? We're there too. For special events, we even move the movies to the outdoors, so students can relax under the stars... or the city lights.
The films committee isn't just the movies, however. We bring directors, speakers, and most importantly, theme weekends like the Homemade Film Festival and other movie marathons all year long.
Why should you join the committee?
Choose Movies and Plan Events
Obviously, you will be able to help select the films we bring to thousands of students every weekend, and you will also be a part in designing theme weekends and planning events. Additionally, you will have a chance to show off your exquisite taste in films and be featured in the "MPAC Picks" section of the movie previews.
Market and Publicize Films
You've seen the posters, flyers, and ads in the Minnesota Daily. Now you can have a part in getting those ads out to the students and letting Gophers everywhere know what quality films will be showing around campus every week. That's not even mentioning the marketing experience you'll gain by working with other Committee members, staff and campus organizations.
Have Fun
Plain and simply, you're doing a valuable thing for the campus community while having a lot of fun. You will be making new friends who share your interests and providing hours of entertainment for yourself and those around you. And who knows, maybe you'll find yourself really loving those theme nights and discover how good you really do look as Princess Leia or Brick Tamland.
