The Major Events Committee helps bring nationally-recognized bands, comedians and lectures to the campus community. Previous programs include concerts by "Nappy Roots" and "They Might Be Giants," a performance from SNL comedians Jimmy Fallon and Colin Quinn, and a talk by Kevin Smith of View Askew Productions.

Why should you volunteer with the Major Events Committee?

Volunteering for the Major Events Committee is a great way to meet new friends while building your professional resume. You'll also have the opportunity to:

Select Events and Plan Special Programs

  • Voice your opinion and help choose the programs that the Major Events Committee brings to campus

Help to Market and Publicize Events

  • Gain valuable marketing experience by working with members of the Major Events Committee and marketing staff to create a marketing campaign that increases exposure for Major Events Committee Programs
  • Work with other campus organizations and academic departments to help spread the word about upcoming events

Implement and Evaluate Programs

  • Help contact speakers, bands, and comedians and other entertainers for upcoming programs
  • Assist in planning, set-up, and management of events
  • Evaluate program success and generate ideas for future programs
