About Spring Jam

Celebrating the warm weather and the end of the school year, Spring Jam is the largest, student-planned, campus-wide event during spring semester at the University of Minnesota. As part of the Minnesota Programs & Activities Council (MPAC), Spring Jam is planned by a student committee that organizes events throughout the week including live music performances, Ballyhoo dance competition, sport competitions, unique entertainment and a variety of other events. All students are encouraged to form teams and compete during Ballyhoo, sport competitions, and the student band competition!

This year's theme "Across the Sea", evokes images of the ocean, sailing, and tropical paradises. This theme helps to bring the warmth to campus that all Minnesotans crave after our cold winters. Each participating team in Spring Jam is encouraged to incorporate "Across the Sea" related elements into their competition. Examples of these elements include:

  • Pirates
  • Sailing
  • Sandy Beaches
  • Islands
  • Travel
  • Exotic Travel Locations
