Committee Descriptions
Films (2 Chairs)
Whether your a fan of cult classics or recent box office hits, the Films Committee is the place for you! Students select weekly films to be shown at Coffman's Theater and St. Paul Student Center's Theatre. This committee also coordinates film related events such as sneak preview nights, special guest speakers and the annual Student Film Festival.
Gophers After Dark (3 Chairs)
Now in its sixth year at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities campus, Gophers After Dark offers FREE late night activities every Friday and Saturday night at Coffman Memorial Union during the academic school year.
Quizbowl (1 Chair)
Put your knowledge to the test in Quizbowl, the "varsity sport of the mind". Quizbowl participants compete and host campus-wide, local, regional and national tournaments.
Special Events (4 chairs)
The Special Events committee is responsible for planning a wide range of prominent events for campus wide appeal. Over the course of the year, this committee will plan, theater and dance performances, musical concerts, featured speakers and comedy performances. Past concerts include Flogging Molly, Jason Mraz, and The Roots. Speakers that we have brought to campus include author, Candice Bushnel, writer/director Michael Moore, and, comedy performances by SNL's Darrell Hammond and Jimmy Fallon.
St. Paul Programs (3 chairs)
The St. Paul Committee's charge is to plan and implement a variety of activities and programs for users of the St. Paul Campus primarily.
Visual Arts (2 chairs)
Visualize, Conceptualize, Realize! The Visual Arts Committee plans art festivals and curates, designs, and installs student and professional art exhibitions in the Larson Art Gallery and in the Coffman Art Gallery.
Whole Music Club (3 chairs)
For the past 30 years, the Whole Music Club has brought cutting-edge music to the University of Minnesota. Students assist with all aspects of bringing local and national bands to campus and managing the concert venue. Previous bands to perform at the Whole include: Heiruspecs, Mark Mallman, the Frogs, the Books, Pretty Girls Make Graves, and a Battle of the Bands featuring performances by 13 local bands.
