Group Description

Categories: Cultural and Diversity, Religious Affiliated, Sorority (non-residential)

Alpha Epsilon Phi is a sorority that wants to inspire and support exemplary women dedicated to friendship and a lifelong commitment to sisterhood, while building on the vision of our founders.
Seven women at Barnard College in New York founded Alpha Epsilon Phi on October 24, 1909. These seven women were searching for a group of young women that would contribute to the growth of its members emotionally, intellectually and socially. Alpha Epsilon Phi’s motto is Multa Corda Una Causa - Many Hearts, One Purpose.

Alpha Epsilon Phi has two national philanthropies. Sharsheret is a national organization of cancer survivors dedicated to addressing the unique concerns of young Jewish women facing breast cancer. In 2000, we adopted the Elizabeth Glazer Pediatrics AIDS Foundation as our second national philanthropy.

When becoming a part of Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority, you are not just becoming a member of a sorority; you are becoming a sister in a family, full of love, trust, and understanding.

Group's principal activities, events, or programs:

AEPhi participates in many programs divided into the categories: Religious and Cultural, Sisterhood, Risk Management, Philanthropy, and Social. Almost all of these programs are planned by the Sisters of AEPhi.

How this group's activities benefit the University community:

The activities that AEPhi participates in promotes an understanding of Judaism and fosters a welcoming environment for cultural diversity. We participate in activities that follow suit with the values and beliefs of our Sisterhood. This allows us to disprove any misnomers about Judaism and Jewish Women while coming together and learning from each other.

How this group fits into its categories:

AEPhi is a Jewish-interest sorority. We promote knowledge and understanding of Judaism and Jewish values. Being a sorority and an interest group allows us to learn and bond over something that matters to all of us.

How to get involved with this group:

If you are interested in AEPhi, you should contact the President. You will be given more information about the Sorority along with when the next Recruitment week is. All women interested in joining AEPhi must participate in one of our recruitment weeks. We welcome women from any faith.
