The College of Biological Sciences Ambassadors serve as representatives for the College of Biological Sciences student population, participate in College of Biological Sciences and University of Minnesota sponsored events, and act as outreach ambassadors to the community and prospective students. The ambassadors promote opportunities in CBS to prospective and current University of Minnesota students, promote opportunities and career possibilities in the biological sciences, and develop leadership and communication skills.

Group's principal activities, events, or programs:

Bi-weekly meetings, CBS Freshman Welcome Fair, Campus Preview Days, CBS Dean's Reception, CBS Sneak Preview, campus visits and laboratory tours (as needed)

How this group's activities benefit the University community:

The College of Biological Sciences Ambassadors serve as representatives for the CBS student population, participate in CBS and University of Minnesota sponsored events, and act as outreach ambassadors to the community and prospective students. Goals are to: promote opportunities in CBS to prospective and current University of Minnesota students, promote opportunities and career possibilities in the biological sciences, and develop leadership and communication skills.

How this group fits into its categories:

As a benefit of the program, ambassadors enhance their communication and leadership skills by participating in events such as Campus Preview Days, CBS Dean’s Reception, CBS Sneak Preview, and more. Retreats and other leadership-enhancing events are also held for the group. Meeting other students and faculty members within the college and learning about new opportunities is another added benefit.

Applications for new Ambassadors are available each spring. Check out our website to see when we will be recruiting new members.
