Colleges Against Cancer is dedicated to eliminating cancer by spreading awareness and education through volunteer work in the community. Through cancer education, survivorship, and advocacy programs, all University of Minnesota college students have the opportunity to make a difference in the fight against cancer.

Group's principal activities, events, or programs:

Colleges Against Cancer hosts many prominent events on the University of Minnesota campus including the Great American Smokeout, Breast Cancer Awareness Day, numerous survivorship events including volunteering at the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, and the RELAY FOR LIFE. As the Tony Diggs Award Winner for Most Outstanding Registered Student Organization, we are proud to have raised over $191,000 and engaged over 1800 participants in April, 2009 to benefit the American Cancer Society's life-saving mission. Cumulatively, we have raised over $700,000 in the last 6 years to support our mission!

How this group's activities benefit the University community:

Through volunteering opportunities at the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, planning fundraising events, educating our peers about cancer, and promoting a healthier University environment through grassroots action, College Against Cancer strives to develop a strong University presence.

How this group fits into its categories:

Colleges Against Cancer is dedicated to eliminating cancer in many ways. We work together to host large and small events throughout the year that celebrate survivorship, raise vital funds for cancer research and patient care, and promote cancer education.

How to get involved with this group:

Everyone is welcome to join! Over 1 in 3 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, so fighting it is a mission we can all be a part of. Whether you are interested in event planning, grassroots advocacy, or volunteering, we have something for you!
