Group's principal activities, events, or programs:

The CBS Student Board is the College of Biological Sciences’ student organization which works collaboratively with the CBS administration, departments and affiliated student organizations, builds community and connections among CBS students, and serves as the official student representation to the CBS Administration.

The CBS Student Board holds and organizes many activities and events for the CBS community throughout the academic year. Some examples are GRE to PhD, Got Research?, Welcome Back BBQ and BioDays.

How this group's activities benefit the University community:

The CBS Student Board works to bridge CBS students to their administration, support CBS students, and unite CBS student organizations so that the concerns of the study body are voiced and recognized.

How this group fits into its categories:

The CBS Student Board fits under the academic/educational and governing bodies’ category as the group is the official representation of the CBS student body. Board members hold positions on various CBS governing committees (ex. Education Policy Committee, Biological Sciences Alumni Society Board of Directors, etc.) to provide student input on behalf of the student body. Furthermore, the CBS Student Board organizes and holds several events each year that help students to reach their full academic potential within CBS (ex. Got Research, GRE to PhD, etc.).

How to get involved with this group:

Any interested CBS student can get involved in the Board's activities and is welcome to attend meetings. For Fall 2009, the Board will meet every Wednesday at 4:30pm (location: TBA). To become a member you must fill out an application which becomes available in March.

Note: You do not need to be a member to get involved. For more information contact Samuel McCabe @ mccab091@umn.edu
