The Minnesota International Student Association (MISA) is a student group whose mission is to represent the international students at the University of Minnesota, promote and enhance the interaction between international and American students. MISA is a non-political, non-religious and non-profit student group.

Group's principal activities, events, or programs:

Our main focus is to help international students get accustomed to the new environment. We do this by hosting events such as feast of nations, spring carnival and more. We also try to involve local students and help them learn about the new cultures from around the world by hosting events such as masquerade ball, international music and many more.

How this group's activities benefit the University community:

Our activities bring together local and international students. This gives international students a chance to familiarize themselves with the new environment as well as gives rest of the student body a chance to learn something new.

How this group fits into its categories:

We are listed under the category of culture and diverse because that is one of our main goals. MISA’s member list contains students from all around the globe. They bring their culture with them which helps other students to learn about other cultures that exist. This also helps us spread diversity and cultural awareness on campus.

How to get involved with this group:

MISA attends all of the international orientation year round; introducing newly arrived international students to MISA and encouraging them join our mailing list. Once they sign up they officially become a part of MISA. We also have this sheet available at all of our events. MISA also has a room in Coffman where a student can stop by for any help they need. We have a board member available from 10 to 5pm on weekdays.
