We provide an interdisciplinary forum for graduate students and interested faculty with a focus primarily on 19th Century British, American and European literature, history and culture. We organize discussions and presentations on topics concerning the scholarship, teaching, and critical theory relevant to work in the 19th Century.

Group's principal activities, events, or programs:

The 19th Century Subfield holds monthly meetings during the academic year to read and discuss scholarly articles and issues pertaining to the literature, culture and history of the 19th century. We also sponsor other opportunities for scholarship including conferences, symposia, and guest speakers.

We are the only campus organization specifically dedicated to 19th century scholarship.
