Our main purpose of existence here at the University of Minnesota is to create a venue where Somali Students and intellectuals can interact and learn from one another. Assist new and prospective Somali students in learning about college admission, financial aid, professional careers and other aspects of the University life. We are here to encourage high school students to continue their studies in prestigious schools like the University of Minnesota. Finally, we exist to organize and promote cultural activities/awareness events and present our rich cultural heritage to the diverse University Community, as well as the residents of the Twin Cities Community.

How this group's activities benefit the University community:

Our Events and programs are intended making Somali Students here at the University of Minnesota feel more connected to their campus both academically and socially. We have programs where students from different groups come together and learn from each other. Our Main Goal is to make the Larger University community learn about Somali culture and traditions to better benefit their interactions with Somali speaking students. Any and all students are well come to be members of SSA and participate, Our goal is to make all students feel connected and close to each other as one University community.

How this group fits into its categories:

We are cultural and diversity group and we providing a lot of cultural and diversity programs or events for students. SSA is part of the Multi-Cultural community here at the University. Our goal is to make college experience for Somali Students and for all those are members of SSA as memorable as possible. We want Students feel they belong here at the U and encourage them pursue their goals and dreams without hesitation. We offer academic and social programs to our members, as well as Academic and Personal Advocacy.

How to get involved with this group:

All Students are welcome to participate and be members of SSA as long as they have valid U of M Internet Identification. There are multiple ways to get involve with SSA.
