Group Description

Categories: Sorority (residential)

Gamma Phi Beta is a social sorority striving to promote the highest form of womanhood. Sisterhood bonds are formed, lifetime friendships are made and memories that can last a lifetime are made in Gamma Phi.

Group's principal activities, events, or programs:

Gamma Phi Beta provides members with opportunities within the Greek, University, and surrounding communities. Scholarship and philanthropy, especially to benefit Camp Fire USA and our annual Kris 5K, are important to chapter life and are supported by a detailed scholarship plan and Personal and Chapter Enrichment program. Members also enjoy date parties and formals, Homecoming, Spring Jam, social exchanges, and sisterhood activities as a way to have fun.

How this group's activities benefit the University community:

Gamma Phi Beta strives to benefit the University through community service, leadership, campus involvement, and academic excellence. Members value community involvement and use the skills learned in Chapter life to better the University programs they are involved in. The emphasis placed on academics and service serve as a way to benefit the University.

How this group fits into its categories:

Gamma Phi Beta is a residential sorority because it belongs to the Panhellenic Council and is recognized nationally. Our beautiful chapter house holds 44 members and serves as a home away from home for those living off campus or in University housing.

How to get involved with this group:

Those interested in joining Gamma Phi Beta may contact us at gammaphi@umn.edu. The President or Membership Vice President will respond quickly to answer any questions you have about our chapter and how to get involved. The Panhellenic Council also holds formal recruitment in the fall and a second recruitment at the beginning of spring semester. Check www.begreek.org for updates and information.
