Our group works to support National History Day in Minnesota, a 6th - 12th grade outreach program sponsored by the Department of History, U of MN-Twin Cities and the Minnesota Historical Society. Membership provides great experience working with kids and even some paid opportunities!
Group's principal activities, events, or programs:
Outreach to community. Help history day students in grades 6-12 in the surrounding areas.
How this group's activities benefit the University community:
Provide a bridge from university students to surrounding school communities in order to promote historical perspectives and critical thinking.
How this group fits into its categories:
From the studying history, one is able to connect him/herself to those around him or her. They are enabled to observe and analyze current events.
How to get involved with this group:
Have monthly meetings. Fliers are posted.
