By providing educational, social, and community activities,
Al-Madinah will help educate the University of Minnesota student body by
creating a better understanding and appreciation for the diverse culture of
Islam and Muslims.

Group's principal activities, events, or programs:

Al-Madinah hosts a variety of events as well as collaborations with other organizations. Some of main events include Welcome dinners for the incoming freshman, Fast-a-thons and Ramadan Iftars for the student community, Eid celebration events, an Islamic Awareness Week for the community to participate and leadership retreats to help promote leadership in the community.

How this group's activities benefit the University community:

Al-Madinah events are specifically designed and implemented to make the new students feel at home (campus) away from their homes. Events consist of introductions, quick discussions and pro-active entertainment that will assist the students with the University campus life.

How this group fits into its categories:

Al-Madinah Cultural Center's goal is to create a better understanding and appreciation for the diverse culture of Islam through educational, social and community activities at the University of Minnesota and grooming the leaders from our campus community.

How to get involved with this group:

AMCC holds about six-eight general body meetings a year. Meetings are open to all members; the main purpose of the meetings is for the board and the general body to communicate the issues that affect this organization and the campus community. We include the minutes from each meeting for people who can not make it to these meetings available on the website. There are also online forms to register for membership as well as information to contact our officers on our website.
