Information About Accounts
In addition to your SUA-provided group profile, you can also create your own website hosted by the University of Minnesota by using an account provided by Academic and Distributed Computing Services (ADCS).
Type of accounts provided
Student groups will receive premium interactive accounts which include the following:
- Email address
- Ability to upload and access files using FTP software.
- 100 MB of disk space for files, mail, and Web pages.
- Advanced features: SSH access, PHP, Perl CGI.
If you have your account info, you can learn how to set up your website.
If you don't have your account information, you can learn more about how to obtain an account.
Annual account renewal
Student groups must maintain current registration with the Student Activities Office. If a group does not register with the Student Activities Office by the end of December each year, e-mail and internet accounts will be closed. SAO sends out a warning letter before accounts are closed.
Account restrictions
Student group accounts are not allowed direct access to the University of Minnesota modem pool or to the restricted database services provided by the University Library system. Individual students or staff must use their personal usernames and passwords to gain access to these services.
Student group usernames and passwords should not be used for chatting on IRC (Internet Relay Chat). Any account that is found connected to IRC will be closed immediately.
