Terms of Reservation

The St. Paul Student Center wedding reception package includes rental from 10:00 a.m. until midnight the day of the event to allow for deliveries and decorations. You may extend the reservation until 1:00 a.m. for an additional fee. Please contact the Events and Conferences Office for more information.

You may place a hold on a reservation for two weeks by phone, in person, request a reservation online. If you choose not to confirm the reservation within this time, the reservation will automatically be cancelled at no cost. To secure the Ballroom you will need to sign a contract outlining the guidelines of the facility and provide a $500 down payment.

Alcohol

To comply with University of Minnesota policy, you must obtain an approved alcohol permit in order to serve alcohol at your reception. There is no charge for this permit and the Events and Conferences Office will assist you in completing the document. Adherence to all University of Minnesota policies and local and state laws is required. The St. Paul Student Center does not allow kegs or the sale of alcohol. The permit must be submitted to the Events and Conferences office at least 20 business days prior to event date and can be obtained online here or you can request one by mail or fax.

Damage Policy

In signing the contract to confirm your reservation of the North Star Ballroom, you are agreeing to leave the facility in good condition and repair at the conclusion of your event. You are responsible for reimbursing the Student Center and/or University for any and all costs required to repair any damage to the facility, or University property, including cleaning that exceeds the standard 12 hours of custodial labor.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation fees are a percentage of the original price based on the number of business days in advance a client cancels a reservation. Personnel must be canceled more than 10 business days in advance or the client will be charged full personnel staffing costs.
